PETALING JAYA: This year's CIMB Malaysian
Open squash championships promises to be
bigger and better as squash queen Nicol David
seeks a record-equalling 63rd Women's
Squash Association (WSA) title.
The Malaysian Open, to be held from Sept
9-15, has been upgraded to a World Series
Gold event and will boast a prize money of US
$70,000 – up by US$10,000 – as well as a
starting draw of 32 for the first time since
its inception in 1975.
With world No. 1 Nicol just one title away
from equalling Susan Devoy's all-time
record of 63 titles, the upgrade is a timely
